Foot Drills

Command: KE BELAKANG PU-SING (While on the march)
Drill movement:
The command will be given when the left heel strikes the ground.
At the timing “check”, cut down both arms to the side as at attention, shift the right foot just beside the left foot and lift the left knee to waist level.
At the timing “1”, form a T-shape with the left foot. The right toecap is facing the left insole.
At the timing “2”, form a L-shape with the right foot at the heels.
At the timing “3”, form a V-shape with the left foot as standing at attention.
Now, having turned 180°, bang with the right leg before resuming quick march by shooting out the left leg forward.
Common faults:
Not turning through 90° in the first two movements.

Command: HENTAK KAKI CEPAT HENTAK
Drill movement:
At the command, raise the left knee with the thigh perpendicular to the body, shin parallel to the body and feet pointing naturally downwards.
Landing on the ball of the foot, place the left foot beside the right foot without driving it to the ground.
As the toe comes to the ground, start to raise the right knee in a similar manner.
Then, repeat the same movement with the right leg.
This is down when the squad is static.
Common faults:
Moving around.
Increasing the rate of marching.
Arms not locked.
Stamping not tapping.

Command: MAJU
Drill movement:
The command will be given when the right foot lands on the ground.
At the timing “check”, the left foot will land on the ground, right knee raise then drive the right foot to the ground.
Upon driving the right leg to the ground, shoot the left foot forward and march a pace of about 30 inches swinging the right arm forward and left arm backwards.
Continue marching in quick time.

Command: DALAM BUKA, BARISAN KE-KANAN LURUS
Drill movement:
At the command, the first and last rank will take 1 step forward and backward respectively.
The front rank shoots the left foot a step forward, placing the foot flat on the ground. Then bend the right knee and bang. The arms remain at the side throughout.
The rear rank takes a step backwards. Pivoting from the ball of the foot to heel, poising the body forward and the knees braced. Similarly, bend the right knee and bang.
Then everyone, except the right marker’s column, will turn their heads 45° to the right. The first rank will raise their arms to the right. If there is insufficient space, the first rank will raise their arms to the back of the shoulder of the person on their right.
Then, everyone will shuffle their feet to take dressing. The first rank will take dressing of 1 arm length to the right with hand closed, knuckles touching shoulder but the right-marker row will not raise their arms.
When everyone has taken their dressing accordingly, the shuffling will stop.
Common faults:
Allow the left knee to bend.
Arms not kept still to the side.

When everyone has taken their dressing accordingly, the shuffling will stop.

Command: SEDI-A
Drill movement:
The execution of this drill is similar to basic attention, with exception of the left arm movement.
For attention position in baton drill, bring the baton under the left armpit so that it is perpendicular to the body.
Left elbow to press towards the side of the body.
First joint of the forefinger of the left hand press the knob of the baton, thumb straight on the left, pointing to the front, and the remaining three fingers together curl inwards around the handle of the baton so that the palm of the left hand faces upwards.
The tip of the baton should be on the same plane with the back of the body and left arm.
At the same time, the left leg will be raised to right angles with the toes pointing downwards.
Drive the left foot to strike the ground just beside the right foot.

Command: SENANG DI-RI

For stand at ease position in baron drill, the baton is brought to the back by pivoting the left arm downwards on the elbow.
First joint of the forefinger of the left hand underneath the knob of the baton, thumb on the right; straight pointing downwards, and the remaining three fingers together grasping and curling around the handle of the baton on the left.
Both elbows straight and the baton rest on the left arm.

At the second timing of “1”, flick the baton upright by bringing right elbow close to body. The right thumb will be by the side of the baton.
At the same time, bring the left hand close to the left side of the body to assume the position of attention. The right fist should be at mouth level, about one thumb-length away.
At the last timing of “1”, lower the baton swiftly to the right side and straighten right arm. The top part of the baton pointing 45° to the ground, thumb is flat on top and the other fingers grip the handle.
Command: SEDI-A (From KE HADAPAN, HOR-MAT)
Drill movement:
At the timing “1”, use the right hand to place the baton under the left armpit, still maintaining the grip.
The left hand should simultaneously pivot up and supports the baton with an open palm with fingers naturally straighten.
At the second timing of “1”, use the left hand to grip the handle of the baton like a “spray can” hand-grip and cut down the right hand down to the right side of the body to assume the position of attention.
